The first 78 pp. is Mrs. Moxley's Memorial; the last 24 are a Memorial address by Potter delivered before the Maine Baptist State Convention in 1881. The Memorial was written by his daughter Elisabeth, and contains several tributes written by Shailer's fellow ministers.
William Hosmer Shailer (1807-1881), b. Haddam, CT; d. Portland, ME. He was educated at Madison University (now Colgate) and at Newton Theological Institute. He was for over 25 years the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Portland, Maine.
