An accomplished scholar, he graduated from Dartmouth in 1818, studied theology at Princeton, and was a tutor there in 1823-4. He was the author of a commentary on the Bible, still deemed useful by many.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter serving as a Presbyterian pastor and then missionary in Indiana, Bush became professor of Hebrew and Oriental Literature at New York University. Among his writings is the book, \u003cem\u003eThe Valley of Vision; or, The Dry Bones of Israel Revived\u003c\/em\u003e: in it he called for the restoration of the Jews to the Holy Land, and of their conversion to Christianity.
