Robert Murray M'Cheyne (1813-1843), "born in Edinburgh, McCheyne knew the Greek alphabet by the time he was four. Following his studies at the University of Edinburgh and the Divinity Hall of the University, he served as assistant to John Bonar before ordination as minister of St. Peter's, Dundee, in 1836. It was while McCheyne was in Palestine on behalf of the Church of Scotland that the revival commenced in his parish under the preaching of William Chalmers Burns. Though the saintly McCheyne lived but a few brief years, his name will ever stand a the forefront of the men of revival of the nineteenth century."
