Rev. John McDowell (1780-1863) b. Bedminster, NJ; d. Philadelphia, PA. He graduated at Princeton College in 1801 and was ordained pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth-town, NJ, in 1804. He remained there until 1833, when he became pastor of Central Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. In addition to his pastoral labors he was relied upon for his administrative and teaching abilities as a Trustee of Princeton University; as director of the Princeton Seminary; and as professor at the Theological Seminary at Allegheny, and at Union Seminary in Virginia.
