Lees, H. A. The City of Churches Illuminated: No. 1. Historical Sketches of the Churches in the City of Brooklyn. Brooklyn: Lees & Foulkes, [1850]. First Edition. [5485]

Printed wrappers, 6 x 9 1/2 inches, four yellow-tinted wood engraved illustrations of churches, 24 bordered pp., light foxing, lacks the back of the wrapper. Good. Pamphlet.

WorldCat suggests a date of 1850, and only records copies in microform, and that copy has only one of the plates, rather than four. This was the only number published.

The author, H. A. Lee, had intended to issue this in parts until all 60 churches of Brooklyn were described. This was the only number published. It describes St. Anne's (Episcopal), First Baptist, Sands St. Methodist Episcopal Church, and St. James' Church (Catholic).
