Brunetto Latini (c.1220-1294), Florentine scholar, statesman, and philosopher. It is said that he help disseminate ideas that were fundamental to the development of Italian poetry and that his works greatly influenced Dante.
"Between 1262 and 1266 he wrote a prose encyclopedia in French, Li Livres dou Trésor, and an abridged version in Italian verse called the Tesoretto."
