John Kennedy (1819-1884) of Dingwall in the Scottish Highlands, Free Church of Scotland minister in that place from 1843 to 1884. The first part of this book is a history of the county of Ross-Shire from before the Reformation, and concentrating on the period of the mid 17th to the late 18th centuries. He describes many ministers and the prominent men, including their peculiarities and closed-mindedness. The second part, The Minister of Killearnan, is a biography of his father, who died in 1841.
