Robert Lewis Dabney (1820-98), Presbyterian minister; professor of Church History in Union Theological Seminary, Virginia, 1853-83; afterwards professor of Moral Philosophy in the University of Texas. He was in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, first as chaplain of the 18th Virginia Regiment, afterwards as chief of staff to General T. J. "Stonewall" Jackson.
