Alexander Stewart Webb (1835-1911), b. New York City, NY; d. Bronx, NY.  Webb was a career United States Army officer, a graduate of West Point (1855), and served with the 4th U.S. Artillery in the Seminole War. He rendered outstanding service for the Union Army both on staff and in battle, and his brigade repulsed "Pickett's Charge." His personal bravery exceeded almost to recklessness, and he was wounded during the rally to repulse Pickett. He received the Medal of Honor in 1891, for "distinguished personal gallantry in leading his men forward at a critical period in the contest" at Gettysburg on July 3rd, 1863. He retired from the army in 1870 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
