Exquisitely bound in polished red calf, raised bands to spine; 6 panels, brown morocco title label in gilt, blue morocco illustrator label in gilt, remaining gilt-decorated panels with devices of a rat, a mole, a toad, and a badger. Gilt device to front with the mole, toad, and rat walking arm in arm. All page edges gilt, gilt dentelles to board edges, gilt florals to inside edges of the boards. Lavender patterned end papers. There is some edge toning to the end papers from the dentelles, and the reverse edges of the color plates have some light toning. The binding near fine with light signs of use, faint ring mark to front (does not show up in the photographs, only visible when book is tilted at a certain angle). xii., 178 clean pp., color plates and b/w illustrations by Rackham.
