The other stories are Nelly and her Good Fairy, The Worshippers of Minerva, The Favorite of Venus, and Squirilibus.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEdnah Dow Littlehale Cheney (1824-1904), b. \u0026amp; d. at Boston, Massachusetts. A Transcendentalist, she was active in the abolition and women's rights movements, and she devoted her life to writing and philanthropy. Amongst her many achievements she was very active in promoting and aiding the Freedman's Aid Society, visiting the Freedman's Schools in the South in the years following the American Civil War. She lectured on art in the Concord School of Philosophy for several years in the 1870s, and wrote books on the topics of art, American citizenship, books of religious stories, and biographies of Louisa May Alcott, and of members of her own family.
