This is an abridgement translated into English of the author's book by the same title written in Chinese in 1988. It is one of only 300 copies printed.
These chapters deal with missionary education in Chefoo from 1865 to 1945. It also examines why the port of Chefoo was opened to Westerners. Among the very interesting chapters are those on J. Hudson Taylor, the McMullans lace-making school, George Cornwell, the Chefoo Naval Academy, the Southern Baptist Mission, the Temple Hill School for Girls, the Roman Catholic Mission, &c.
