Christophilos [pseud]. Review of Rev. Mr. Cushman's "Calm Review of the Measures Employed in the Religious Awakening on Boston, in 1842.". Boston: 1846. First Edition.

Stab-sewn pamphlet, no wrapper, 5 1/2 x 9 1/4 inches, 56 pp., foxing. Good. Pamphlet.  [4841]

No. 1072 in Roberts, Revival Literature: An Annotated Bibliography. Roberts says it is "a sharp criticism of the revival work of Elder Jacob Knapp in Boston in 1842," but it is in fact the opposite: it is a defense of Knapp. Our unknown author is taking issue with Rev. Robert Cushman's pamphlet, which was indeed sharply critical of Knapp. He proceeds point by point, answering the objections of Cushman, and lands a few satirical blows of his own.
