William Walker was a printer in Otley. He started his business in 1811 and published the first local newspaper. He published as "William Walker and Son" from 1830 to 1849. When the firm added "And Sons" to their byline we have been unable to discover. They were incorporated at Otley, Yorkshire, in 1872.

William Buchan (1729-1805), Scottish physician and author whose stated goal was one of "laying medicine more open to mankind." He best accomplished his goal with the writing of this book, the first of its kind, which provided laymen with the knowledge and treatment of disease. The book also focuses on prevention as well as cures of diseases, somthing new for the times. First published in 1769, it went through many editions in the Great Britain and America.
