James Hall Brookes (1830-1897), b. Pulaski, TN; d. St. Louis, MO. He was a Presbyterian minister, born in Tennessee to a family long associated with the Presbyterian ministry. His ministry was marked with success and he was numbered, by his preaching and writing, among the more conservative or fundamentalist of his profession. Brookes has been called a “founding father” of dispensationalism in the United States.
