Embossed leather binding, 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches, gilt titles to spine, marbled end papers and page edges, xxx., double pp. map in blue ink, (25)-584 generally clean pp., some offsetting from the plates. Publisher's adverts at back; dark tidemark in the upper margin of the last two leaves. The book is in very good condition with slight rubbing to the edges of the binding and a few small worm holes to the outer hinges.
With 14 engraved plates and 4 additional maps in blue ink. Very good. 
The original subscription agent's card is laid in, printed on both sides with descriptions of the book, and signed "D. F. Houghton."
