Houpt, Lewis L. An Appeal to the First District Conference of the Ministerium of Pennsylvania, in the matter of the Troubles at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. [n.p.]: [presumably self published], 1883. First Edition. [1355]

6 x 9 pamphlet in faded pink wrappers, 56 pp., center crease, good condition. Good. Pamphlet.

OCLC 45360201, with 1 location. Half sheet laid in dated Sept. 15th, 1883, with the author's apology for writing the pamphlet. "...with a view to lay before them the historical facts connected with the unjust, uncharitable, and unwise treatment of me at St. Mark's Church, and to show the various efforts I have made to secure a reversal of the unrighteous verdict pronounced against me the Pastor and Council."

Louis L. Houpt had been for some years a lay leader at St. Mark's and after the arrival of a new pastor became entangled with a church dispute in such a way that the new pastor cast aspersions on his character and honesty. Mr. Houpt herein attempts to vindicate himself.
