Noël Alexandre (1639-1724), French theologian and historian, a member of the Dominican order. He was a doctor of divinity (Sorbonne) and taught philosophy, theology, and ecclesiastical law. He was recognized even by Louis XIV for his abilities; the king bestowed up him an annual pension. Alexandre was later banished and deprived of his pension; first for subscribing to Jansenist views and later for his opposition to the bull Unigenitus.
