Foster, Finley Milligan. Church and State, Their Relations Considered: A Thesis. New York: The Author, 1940.

The author was the pastor of the Third Reformed Presbyterian Church in New York City. The RP church at this time (and perhaps still today) sought for civil recognition of the Christian religion, while maintaining a separation of Church and State. The idea harkens back to the 17th century Scottish Covenants.
