She was a member of the Anglican Sisterhood of the Good Samaritan, and was remembered for her management of the hospital in Walsall and for her skill in surgical nursing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eShe was the daughter of the Rev. Mark James Pattison (1788-1865), and the sister of the Rev. Mark Pattison (1813-1884), the scholar and historian.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSister Dora worked tirelessly on behalf of the poor, treating thousands of patients during a smallpox epidemic. She was also embraced by the many railway workers whom she helped recover from accidents which frequently occurred at that time.
