Wilton, New Hampshire, d. Roxbury, Massachusetts. Barrett graduated at Harvard (1818), was licensed to preach (1823), and the next year he became pastor of the Twelfth Congregational Church in Boston, where he remained for twenty-five years.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBarrett was an early advocate for an organized Unitarian Association. He was elected to the board of directors of this Association soon after it was formed in 1825 and served as Secretary in the 1830’s.
