He here offers it in print, unaltered, for all to judge.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe text is Exodus 35:21 \u0026amp; 29, \"And they came, every one whose heart was stirred up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the Lord's offering to the work of the tabernacle...\u0026amp;c.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePhilip Lindsly (1786-1855), b. Basking Ridge, New Jersey; d. Nashville, Tennessee. Lindsly graduated at the College of New Jersey (Princeton College), and in 1808 began teaching Latin and Greek in his \u003cem\u003ealma mater\u003c\/em\u003e. He rose in usefulness and became Professor Languages, Librarian, Dean, and secretary to the Board of Trustees. He was vice president of the college (1817-1822), and acting president (1822-1824). He declined the presidency of Princeton, and of several other colleges, settling as president of Cumberland College (now University of Nashville) in Nashville in 1824. He resigned in 1850, when a cholera epidemic led to low enrollment.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHe next taught at New Albany, Indiana, at the seminary which became McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago.
