In 1821 he became professor of \u003cem\u003emateria medica\u003c\/em\u003e in the same institution. He first published his \u003cem\u003eEdinburgh New Dispensatory\u003c\/em\u003e in 1803, and it ran through ten editions in 19 years. He was for many years editor of the Edinburgh Medical and Surgical Journal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJacob Dyckman (1788-1822), b. Harlem, New York; d. New York City. He graduated from Columbia College in 1810 and from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in the University of the State of New York in 1813.
