Pamphlet.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe text is Psalm 37:37, \"Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright; for the end of that man is peace.\" The first six pages are the exposition of the text; the remainder shows how the life of Governor Trumbull proved it to be true.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJonathan Trumbull, Jr. (1740-1809), b. \u0026amp; d. at Lebanon, Connecticut. He graduated at Harvard College (1759), and began a life of public service, in keeping with the family tradition. During the American Revolution he was paymaster general of the Northern Department and became secretary to General Washington in 1781. He served in many public positions, including three terms as a Connecticut state legislator, was a member of the first three United States Congresses; Trumbull was also briefly a US Senator. He became Governor of Connecticut in 1797, an office he held until his death in 1809.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTimothy Dwight, D.D., LL.D., (1752-1817), grandson of Jonathan Edwards, born at Northampton, MA. Dwight graduated at Yale College at the age of 17, in 1769. He served in the army during the American Revolution, as a chaplain to General Parson’s brigade. His father’s death in 1778 necessitated a return to his family home to take care of his mother, which he did by teaching school and by preaching. In 1783 he accepted a call to become the pastor of the parish of Greenfield, CT.
