The Davidson sisters were young poets celebrated by many in mid-19th century America. Lucretia Maria died at the age of 16 while her sister Margaret died aged 15. The sisters were praised by such notables as Edgar Allen Poe, Robert Southey, and Catharine Sedgwick.
