General Edward Fitch Bullard (1821-1900), a native of Saratoga County, NY, lawyer and politician, in 1845 elected brigadier-general of the Ninth Brigade and commissioned by Governor Silas Wright. He was an early organizer for the Republican party in NYS. He published several widely-circulated pamphlets in 1863 supporting the cause of the Union.

In this Fourth of July Address delivered at Schuylerville, N. Y. Gen. Bullard reviews the history of Saratoga during colonial times, and gives a descriptive account of the Burgoyne Campaign.
