Hannah Whitall Smith (1832-1911), US evangelist, reformer, suffragist, author. She championed feminist causes and the right of young women to attend college; co-founded Women's Christian Temperance Union. She was born into a Quaker family but by 1865 she moved into the holiness revival movement. She and her husband became prominent as speakers, authors, and publishers.

"In 1875 she published The Christian's Secret to a Happy Life, a guide to sanctification and complete surrender to the divine will that was translated into several languages and sold some two million copies around the world." - Encyclopedia Britannica.
