Alexander Freidrich Franz Hoffman (1814-1882), German bookseller and storyteller. He published his first books for youth in 1842 and they were met with such wide approval that he was able to devote the rest of his life to writing. His books were intended for children and young people, and promoted Christian piety and virtues.
